IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities

Course Objectives On successful completion of the course delegates should be able to: • Identify hazards to the environment both generally and from an organisational perspective • Apply management principles & practice relating to environmental issues • Communicate environmental practices effectively to all levels of staff in an organisation, including senior 
management • Introduce environmental reviews • Understand environmental management systems (e.g. ISO 14001) • Identify organisational responsibilities with regard to environmental legislation. Course Programme: • Introduction to environmental issues and their management • Principles of sustainable development and 
energy sources • Environmental hazards and workplace activities • Environmental legislation, environmental 
regulatory bodies and European Directives • Water supply, treatment and pollution 
 • Principles of pollution • Certification and Assessments ISO 14001 • Transport management and the environment • Air pollution (inc. Asbestos and Legionella)
 • Contaminated land
 • Waste management, production and classification
 • Environmental management systems. On completion delegates will undertake a short assessment and conduct a small project in their own environment. Successful delegates will receive an IOSH certificate
